Crohn’s Disease in Japan—A Clinicopathologic Study

  • Chapter
Digestive Disease Pathology

Abstract

There have been an increasing number of reports1–10 describing morphologic features of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly Crohn’s disease, in recent years. Previously, there were thought to be two forms of Crohn’s disease, acute and chronic; the acute form has been excluded by the finding that it was induced by Yersinia11–13 or Anisakis.14 Actually, the term Crohn’s disease15 includes regional granulomatous ulcerative colitis,16 right-sided (regional) colitis,17,18 regional colitis19 and regional segmental colitis.20
