Zusammenfassung
Aktuelle Lebensqualität und langfristige Prognose von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Typ-I-Diabetes stehen in enger Beziehung zur Qualität der kontinuierlichen Behandlung und Betreuung. Den Therapiezielen kann sich unter Alltagsbedingungen nur angenähert werden, wenn Eltern, Kinder und Jugendliche darauf vorbereitet sind, die anspruchsvolle Therapie eigenverantwortlich und flexibel an Lebensumstände, Lebensziele und metabolische Gegebenheiten anzupassen. Die große Bedeutung der Diabetesschulung, zu der hier ausgewählte psychologische und pädagogische Grundlagen dargestellt werden, liegt damit auf der Hand.
