Bei Kindern und Jugendlichen tritt als Krankheitsentität des Syndroms Diabetes mellitus fast ausschließlich der Typ-I-Diabetes auf. Die Inzidenz dieser häufigsten endokrinologischen Erkrankung des Kindes- und Jugendalters nimmt zu.
