Zusammenfassung

Den klinisch viefältigen Symptomen peripherer Nervenschäden, die für den Chirurgen von Interesse sind, stehen nur wenige, morphologisch klar umschriebene Erkrankungsformen der Nervenfasern gegenüber. Seddons oft zitierte Einteilung betont in den drei Haupttypen der Funktionsstörung die Unterscheidung der Neurapraxie (= zeitweiliger Funktionsstörung) und Axonotmesis (= Achsencylinderdurchtrennung mit Erhaltenbleiben der Endoneuralrohre), um die hierbei überflüssigen chirurgischen Eingriffe zu verhindern, gegenüber der Neurotmesis, der völligen Durchtrennung der Achsencylinder, des endoneuralen und perineuralen Hüllgewebes.
