Abstract
The response of a structure to a given loading does not only depend on its geometric configuration but may also be influenced by the surrounding media. This holds particularly for dynamically loaded structures whose behaviour is strongly influenced by soil-structure interaction. In such cases the foundation environment can not be neglected.
