Abstract

In order to lift idempotents from characteristic p to characteristic zero, the safest method is to work over a complete discrete valuation ring of characteristic zero with a residue field of characteristic p. Yet, as a matter of fact, the completeness is a sufficient but not necessary condition. In this section, we will discuss on this question.
