Zusammenfassung
Die Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonie (PcP)ist im Zusammenhang mit der raschen Verbreitung der HIV-Infektion zu einer bedeutenden Erkrankung geworden. Sie ist in den westlichen Ländern die häufigste AIDS-Manifestation und eine der häufigsten Todesursachen von AIDS-Patienten. Die Kenntnis dieses Krankheitsbildes ist eine Grundvoraussetzung für die Behandlung der HIV-Infektion.
