HIV besitzt eine ausgesprochene Neurotropie, mit der Folge primärer und sekundärer Komplikationen des Nervensystems (Abb. 1). Es ist bisher nicht abschließend geklärt, inwieweit hierfür speziell neurotrope HIV-Varianten verantwortlich sind.
