Zusammenfassung

Eßstörungen haben innerhalb der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte sowohl in der Öffentlichkeit als auch in der wissenschaftlichen Forschung ein verstärktes Interesse gefunden. Vor allem das Erscheinen der Bulimia nervosa und deren Definition als eigenständiges Krankheitsbild im Diagnostischen und Statistischen Manual psychiatrischer Störungen (DSM-III; APA, 1980) hat nicht nur zu einem rapiden Anstieg wissenschaftlicher Publikationen geführt, sondern auch deutlich gemacht, welch ein enormer Behandlungsbedarf für diese Symptomatik besteht.
