Abstract
There is a class of flows for which the kinematics and the stress can be determined for the simple fluid. These flows are equivalent to the simple shearing flow. Ericksen [28] called them laminar shear flows, but the current terms used to describe these flows are viscometric flows [29]. Here, we review this class of flows.
