Die sonographische Beurteilung des Mutterkuchens zählt zur Routine in der geburtshilflichen Diagnostik. Dabei sind neben der Lokalisation auch Reifegrad, mögliche strukturelle Veränderungen (Zysten, Lakunen, Hämatome, Tumoren) und die Insertion der Nabelschnur zu beurteilen.
