Abstract

Laser interaction with metallic surfaces in the presence of chemical active media leads to the formation of different compound such as oxides /1–9/, nitrides /10,11/ or carbides /12/. During the interaction process the electromagnetic radiation is absorbed firstly in the metal then in the compounds formed on its surface.
