Abstract
The genus Phalaenopsis (Orchidaceae) comprises approximately 40 species, distributed in the Himalayas, China, Tibet, Southeast Asia, Formosa, the Philippines, the Andaman Islands, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Celebes, New Guinea, and northern Australia. Phalaenopsis is now one of the most popular orchid genera and is becoming an important ornamental plant. They are being grown commercially for cut-flower production and as pot plants.
