Zusammenfassung

Die Übertragung von Blut oder Blutbestandteilen ist eine eingreifende ärztliche Maßnahme. Die mit einer Bluttransfusion verbundenen Risiken, wie Infektionsgefährdung, Transfusionsreaktion oder Sensibilisierung, sind gegenüber dem Nutzen einer Transfusionsbehandlung individuell abzuwägen. Die Entscheidung ist einfach zu treffen, wenn eine vitale Indikation, wie Substitution nach schweren Blutverlusten, vorliegt; sie muß bei relativer Indikation, z. B. Transfusionsvorbehandlung potentieller Empfänger von Nierentransplantaten, durch Ergebnisse fundierter Studien gut begründet sein.
