The Role of the Physicist in the Nuclear Age

  • Edward Teller

The topic on “The Role of the Physicist in the Nuclear Age” is both particularly appropriate and entirely absurd. It is appropriate because at the very beginning of our carriers, about 70 years ago, Carl Friedrich and I had long and explicit conversations, which in subsequent years have never been repeated. In sharp contrast to this statement, I must acknowledge that in the intervening period, the problems have assumed in my mind an increasingly insoluble character.
