Eine Luftansammlung im subkutanen Gewebe ist kein seltener Befund bei geschlossenen und offenen Thoraxverletzungen. Bei 27% der Patienten mit Rippenserienfrakturen findet sich bei der Spitalaufnahme ein subkutanes Emphysem.
