Zusammenfassung

Angeborene Herzfehler bei Erwachsenen erlangen für den Allgemeinmediziner, Internisten und Kardiologen zunehmend Bedeutung, da dank operativer Korrektur, zumindest aber Palliationsmöglichkeiten und verbesserter medikamentös-konservativer Therapie die Lebenserwartung der Mehrzahl auch jener Patienten erheblich verbessert wurde, die vor 30 Jahren nur selten das Erwachsenenalter erreichten. Dennoch bleiben postoperativ oft eine erhöhte Morbidität und Mortalität, Limitierungen der Belastung und spezielle Anforderungen an die Patientenführung bestehen.
