Zusammenfassung

Das akute Nierenversagen ist als klinisches Syndrom charakterisiert durch den plötzlichen Ausfall der exkretorischen Nierenfunktion und die daraus resultierende Retention harnpflichtiger Substanzen. Pathognomonisch ist somit die akut auftretende Azotämie; eine kritische Verminderung der Harnmenge (Oligurie = < 400 ml/24 h) wird dagegen nur in etwa 2/3 der Fälle beobachtet.
