Abstract

Low Mach number flow plays a dominant role in a number of flow situations, even if this is not established as firmly as it is for high or low Reynolds number flows. We shall emphasize that at least three important parts of fluid dynamics: incompressible (internal and external) viscous unsteady-state aerodynamics, nonlinear acoustics and nonadiabatic atmospheric flow, are concerned with the theory of low Mach number flow.
