Abstract
Though biological control of weeds by mycoherbicides (fungal weed pathogens) has received considerable academic consideration, only a few commercial products are available. Producing an effective mycoherbicide product for the market is similar to making a three-legged stool. Fermentation (inoculum preparation), formulation, and application are, as in the three-legged stool, interrelated. If one leg is deficient, the stool will not be stable. A commercial mycoherbicide product is the result of close collaboration between scientists and companies involved in production, formulation, and application.
