Abstract
In this chapter the terms eczema and dermatitis are used synonymously. Hand eczema is the commonest problem of subjects referred to a contact dermatitis clinic. It affects all age groups. The interwoven nature of endogenous, irritant and allergic contact dermatitis is particularly apparent on the hands, where in many cases there is a multifactorial aetiology. Everyday use of the hands makes avoidance therapy difficult.
