The first co-axial flow pump for human use: the Hemopump

Many people ask me how I thought up this idea. It came about when I traveled to Egypt to work in a village just outside Cairo with the Bedouin people to evolve a plan to solve the problem of contaminated drinking water. During this visit I learned a piece of information that helped me design the Hemopump. Based on the principle of a submersible pump, we pumped water from a deep well. When applied to the problem of pumping blood, I thought, why not create a heart pump that pumps from inside the bloodstream?
