Zusammenfassung
Ursprünglich wurde unter anomerem Effekt die thermodynamische Bevorzugung der axialen Position polarer Substituenten am anomeren Zentrum einer Pyranose verstanden. Beispielsweise liegt von Glucose in wäßriger Lösung das α-Anomer mit der axialen Hydroxygruppe in Position 1 im Gleichgewicht zu ca. 36% vor. Bei Mannose überwiegt im Gleichgewicht das α-Anomer sogar mit 67%. Diese Bevorzugung gilt auch für andere polare Gruppen wie ein Halogenatom oder die Methoxy-, Acetoxy- und Methylsulfanyl-Gruppen.
