Zusammenfassung

Verglichen mit Geschwülsten des Bronchialsystems, des inneren weiblichen Genitales, der Mamma, der Prostata, des Gastrointestinaltrakts etc. sind Tumoren des Knochens selten, was ihre richtige diagnostische Einordnung in der täglichen Praxis naturgemäß problematisch macht; andererseits lehrt die Erfahrung, daß an die Möglichkeit einer Knochengeschwulst bei unklaren, lokalisierten Skelettbeschwerden immer noch viel zu wenig oder zu spät gedacht wird, insbesondere bei Kindern und Jugendlichen, deren Schmerzprojektion häufig distal der eigentlichen Läsion liegt. Das Intervall zwischen der ersten Arztkonsultation bis zur ersten Röntgenaufnahme betrug beim Osteosarkom 1978 noch 14,3 Wochen, weitere 3,7 Wochen vergingen bis zum Behandlungsbeginn. Nach unseren Erfahrungen hat sich die gesamte Zeitspanne inzwischen um etwa 2–4 Wochen verkürzt, sie sollte aber insgesamt höchstens 4–5 Wochen betragen.
