Abstract
Statistics are not „l‘art pour l‘art“. Statistics are a tool to answer questions. They can be a very useful tool, especially for analysts. Examples of these questions are: How accurate is the analysis? How many analyses do I have to make to overcome problems of inhomogeneity or imprecision? Does the product meet the specification? What is the confidence that the limit is exceeded? And many more questions in the daily work of chemical analysts can be answered using statistics.
