Zusammenfassung
Rezidivierende oder chronische Bauchschmerzen treten meist als Leitsymptom chronisch-entzündlicher oder funktioneller Erkrankungen des Gastrointestinal-trakts auf. Die medizinischen Behandlungsmöglichkeiten sind limitiert und beziehen sich meist auf die Verringerung der Symptome durch Medikation oder operative Eingriffe. Die Erkrankungen gehen mit weitreichenden psychosozialen Belastungen einher, die eine Mitbehandlung durch Psychologen dringlich machen. In der psychologischen Schmerztherapie sollte nicht nur das Leitsymptom „Bauchschmerz“ behandelt, sondern auch auf psychosoziale Belastungen und deren Bewältigung eingegangen werden. Studien zeigen Ansätze und Möglichkeiten der psychologischen Schmerztherapie und deren Effektivität auf.
