Bei jedem Menschen tritt im hohen Alter mehr oder weniger eine gewisse Hirnatrophie ein. Wenn diese stark ausgeprägt ist oder/und besonders früh beginnt, bezeichnet man diese Krankheit als Alzheimer-Demenz.
