Zusammenfassung
60–70% aller Krebskranken erhalten eine kurative oder palliative Strahlenbehandlung. In der Tötung von Tumorzellen ist die Strahlentherapie hoch effizient. Sie hat das Potenzial, als alleinige Therapieform oder in Kombination mit Chemotherapie, solide Tumoren einer makroskopischen Größenordnung definitiv zu vernichten. Der wesentliche Beitrag der Strahlentherapie im Rahmen kurativer und multimodaler Behandlungskonzepte besteht in der Verbesserung der lokalen Tumorkontrolle.
