Zusammenfassung

Die Laparoskopie ist ein verhältnismäßig altes diagnostisches Verfahren. Im Jahr 1901 stellte der Dresdner Chirurg Georg Kelling auf der Tagung der Gesellschaft Deutscher Naturforscher und Ärzte in Hamburg zum ersten Mal seine Methode der „Coelioskopie“ vor. Noch im gleichen Jahr publizierte Dimitri Edler von Ott in Russland seine Methode der „Ventroskopie“ zur Inspektion der Abdominalhöhle. Beide Autoren fanden keine wesentliche Beachtung. In der Folgezeit wurde die Methodik mehrfach „neu erfunden“, beispielsweise von Hans Christian Jacobäus, der in Unkenntnis der Arbeiten von Kelling und von Ott im Jahr 1911 eine Methode zur Inspektion seröser Höhlen in der Münchner Medizinischen Wochenschrift publizierte, die er als „Laparoskopie“ bezeichnete. Neben zahlreichen anderen Protagonisten der Laparoskopie trug insbesondere Heinz Kalk seit Beginn der 20er Jahre entscheidend zur Weiterentwicklung der laparoskopischen Technik bei.
