Zusammenfassung

An der Defälcation und Kontinenzerhaltung sind mehrere Strukturen in einem komplexen Zusammenspiel beteiligt. Das Anorektum, aber auch der Dickdarm erfüllen dabei wichtige, teils unwillkürlich, teils willkürlich regulierte Aufgaben. Im folgenden Kapitel werden physiologische Funktionsabläufe in ihren Hauptprinzipien erörtert und deren Diagnostik zusammen mit möglichen Störungen vorgestellt.
