Abstract
The genus Lilium,(family Liliaceae) has about 130 species which include many beautiful ornamental species. All wild species of Lilium are native to the Northern Hemisphere and are distributed from the subtropical to the subarctic zones. More than 3000 cultivars have been bred through intra- as well as interspecific hybridization of some species and are now widely cultivated throughout the world.
