Zusammenfassung
Hauptaufgabe des Gastrointestinaltrakts ist es, die aufgenommene Nahrung in resorbierbare Bestandteile umzuwandeln und diese in den Körper aufzunehmen. Diese Vorgänge werden durch mechanische Prozesse (Zerkleinerung, Durchmischung, Transport) und die Sekretion von Verdauungssäften mit ihren Enzymen eingeleitet. Durch diese Enzyme werden Eiweiße, Fette und Kohlenhydrate hydrolytisch gespalten und in resorbierbare Bruchstücke zerlegt (Verdauung). Die Endprodukte der Verdauung sowie Wasser, Mineralstoffe und Vitamine werden aus dem Darmlumen durch die Darmschleimhaut hindurch in das Blut und die Lymphe aufgenommen (Resorption).
