Zusammenfassung
Immer wieder erfährt man, daß Menschen einen tödliche Unfall erleiden, indem sie mit dem elektrischen Strom in Berührung kommen. Der Tod tritt dabei oft ohne erkennbare äußere Schädigungen ein und beruht in den meisten Fällen auf einem Versagen der Herztätigkeit infolge von Herzkammerflimmern. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Störung der Herzerregung, die erst sekundär auch zum Ausfall der mechanischen Herzfunktion führt. Das Herz reagiert in dieser Weise auf eine äußere elektrische Beeinflussung, weil die Herzmuskulatur wie Nerven oder Skelettmuskulatur ein erregbares Gewebe ist, d. h., daß bioelektrische Vorgänge bei der Herztätigkeit eine entscheidende Rolle spielen.
