Abstract

An electron is an elementary particle with spin S =1/2 and charge —e. However, in materials, in particular, in transition metal oxides, it manifests itself in many different ways. This is because electrons interact strongly not only each other but the crystal potentials. In this chapter, the basic properties of the electronic structure of transition metal oxides are described.
