Zusammenfassung

Die bekannten klinischen Symptome des Parkinsonsyndroms sind Ausdruck einer chronisch-progredienten Hirnkrankheit mit Untergang melaninhaltiger Zellen im Bereich der Substantia nigra (17). Die Degeneration nigro-striataler Neurone kann durch keines der bisher bekannten Behandlungsverfahren zum Stillstand gebracht werden. Nach dem fast völligen Verschwinden des postencephalitischen Parkinsonismus ist die Mehrzahl der Krankheitsfälle als idiopathisches Parkinsonsyndrom einzuordnen, dessen Manifestationsalter im 6. Lebensjahrzehnt liegt. Aus diesen wenigen einleitenden Feststellungen ergibt sich bereits zwingend, daß jede medikamentöse Parkinsontherapie als Langzeitbehandlung angelegt sein und den spezifischen somatischen und psychosozialen Bedingungen der Involution Rechnung tragen muß.
