Abstract

Much of Wigner’s work on elementary particles was an outgrowth of his analysis of symmetry in quantum mechanics. Some of the work on fields seems to have been directly inspired by the physical problems of atomic spectra, for example, by the origin of breadth of spectral lines. A tidy classification is impossible, so, somewhat arbitrarily, the comments on the papers assembled here have been grouped under four headings:

  1. 1.

Analysis of Symmetry in Quantum Mechanics

  2. 2.

    Relativistic Wave Equations

  3. 3.

    Classical Relativistic Particle Theory

  4. 4.

    Field Theory
