Zusammenfassung
Unter einer Atelektase versteht man einen Lungenanteil mit minder- oder unbelüfteten Alveolen bei sonst normaler Parenchymstruktur. Die Ausdehnung kann dabei von diffusen Mikroatelektasen über Segment- und Lappenatelektasen bis hin zum Kollaps einer gesamten Lunge reichen. Für teilbelüftete Lungenabschnitte wird im radiologischen Sprachgebrauch der Begriff Dystelektase verwandt, die als Vorstufe der Atelektase angesehen wird. Für rezidivierende oder chronische Belüftungsstörungen im Bereich des Mittellappens, die oft mit chronisch obstruktiven Lungenerkrankungen assoziiert sind, wurde der Begriff Mittellappensyndrom geprägt. Auf die seltenen sog. primären, bereits bei Geburt bestehenden Atelektasen soll hier nicht eingegangen werden.
