Zusammenfassung
Erbliche Störungen im Galaktosestoffwechsel führen zu Galaktosämie. Drei Enzymstörungen sind bekannt: Mangel an Galaktokinase, Galaktose-1-Phosphatu-ridyltransferase (klassische Galaktosämie) und an UDP-Ga-laktose-4-Epimerase (Abb. 41.1). Die Anreicherung von Ga-laktosemetaboliten führt zu Schädigungen vor allem von Leber, Niere, Gehirn, Ovar und Linse. Durch eine galakto-seeingeschränkte Diät können akute toxische Erscheinungen vermieden werden, doch zeigen Patienten mit klassischer Galaktosämie trotz Diät neurologische Auffälligkeiten und Ovardysfunktion.
