Die nucleophile aliphatische Substitutions-Reaktion ist eine der am besten untersuchten Reaktionen der organischen Chemie. Sie ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein nucleophiler Reaktionspartner Y| einen Substituenten X| (Abgangsgruppe, nucleofuge Gruppe) verdrängt und dabei das für die C—Y-Bindung erforderliche Elektronenpaar liefert:
