Short Time-Scale Electron Kinetics in Bulk Metals and Metal Clusters

  • Chapter
Nonequilibrium Physics at Short Time Scales

Abstract

The first steps of nonequilibrium electron relaxation in noble metal films and clusters are discussed in the light of femtosecond time-resolved optical investigations. The presented results focus on the short time scale coherent electron-optical pulse coupling and electron scattering processes. The first effects of confinement are discussed by comparing results obtained in films and nanoparticles.
