Epilepsien sind häufige Krankheiten : In der Bundesrepublik gibt es 250 000 bis 300 000 Anfallskranke. Etwa 0,5% aller Menschen, d. h. 15 Millionen Personen, leiden an wiederholten epileptischen Anfällen. In den USA rechnet man auf 20 Krankenhausbetten einen Anfallspatienten.
