Es handelt sich um pulmonale, kardiovaskuläre, metabolische, zerebrale und/oder nephrologische Komplikationen nach perinataler Asphyxie [11]. Sie werden verursacht durch eine intrauterine Asphyxie mit Beeinträchtigung des plazentaren Gasaustausches und Atemstörungen unmittelbar nach der Geburt, durch eine postnatale respiratorische Insuffizienz oder durch einen ausgeprägten Rechts-Links-Shunt bei kongenitalem Vitium bzw. bei Persistenz des fetalen Kreislaufes [55]. Die Kinder bedürfen einer Überwachung, klinischer Verlaufsbeobachtung und Behandlung. Im Vordergrund steht meist die neurologische Symptomatik.
