Abstract

Investigations aiming at the recognition, characterisation and management of mass movements were carried out in the area of Corvara in Badia within the framework of the NEWTECH Project (New technologies for landslide hazard assessment and management in Europe) funded by the Environment and Climate Programme of the European Union (Corsini et al. 1998a,b, 1999). The research involved a team of scientists from the Department of Earth Sciences of Modena University, the Department of Environmental Sciences of Milan II University and the Research Institute for Hydrological and Geological Hazard Prevention of the National Research Council of Padua. The research was conducted following an integrated method for landslide hazard assessment that is related to the methodology recently proposed for the implementation of the geological hazard map of Italy at a 1 : 50 000 scale (C.A.R.G. Project: Amanti et al. 1992; Panizza 1998).
