Abstract
The development through larvae with longitudinally folded lorica and subadult postlarvae represents the most prominent synapomorphy between the Priapulida and the Loricifera (LEMBURG 1999). In contrast, the direct development of the Kinorhyncha must be considered as a plesiomorphy.
