Auf den Veröffentlichungen von Caycedo aufbauend, beschreibt der Autor die Grundbegriffe der Sophrothanatopädie. Sie stellt eine hoch spezifische Hypnosetechnik dar, die besondere Bedeutung der Sophronisation als einer Form menschlichen Sterbens beimißt: Im Vergleich zu der Art von Sterben, die krebskranke Patienten auf einer Intensivstation zu durchlaufen haben, scheint der Hauptunterschied darin zu bestehen, daß zusätzlich zur detaillierten Thanatopädie — der geistigen Vorbereitung des Patienten auf das bevorstehende Ende — die Sophronisation einen stärkenden Einfluß auf die geistigen und psychischen Sphären des Moribundus ausübt.

Summary

Based on the publications of Caycedo, the author elaborates the basics of sophro-tanatopedia. This constitutes a highly specific technique of hypnosis which places particular emphasis on the fact that sophronization is a means of helping a patient to die a human death. As compared to the kind of death cancer patients have to go through in intensive care units, the major difference appears to be that, in addition to the thoroughly planned thanatopedia (the mental preparation of the patient for death) sophronization has a strengthening impact on the intellectual and psychic spheres of the moribund.
