Summary
In the Federal Republic of Germany, “Ablationshypnose” (“ablation hypnosis”) still receives far too little attention as a means of psychotherapy. Therefore a case of examination phobia is presented to demonstrate the procedure and to illustrate how effective it can be when pressure of time is a factor. In the course of 3 weeks, six sessions took place comprising analytical explorations, autogenic training, hypnosis, and the application of a tape recording with a syndrome-centered direct suggestion.
“Ablationshypnose” may be equally as well applied in the treatment of bedridden inpatients with the specific aim of reducing chronic pain and sleep disturbances.
