Recognition leading to early surgical evacuation of post-traumatic intracranial haematomas in patients transferred to the care of the neurosurgeons has improved considerably over the last decade. This significant advance in management has been almost entirely attributed to the use of the CT scanner and some reduction both in mortality and morbidity has been reported (2).
