Abstract
Previous studies attempting to define the natural history of ruptured cerebral aneurysms have, in general, concentrated on the short-term outcome and have concluded that the risk of further haemorrhage and death was greatest in the first few weeks after the initial haemorrhage. Subsequent to this acute time period, the rate of rebleeding and death was assumed to be minimal, thus leaving the patient who survived the initial hemorrhage at low risk.
