Abstract

Stamets [1], Agte, Vacek [2, pp. 222,224], Kroll [3], and Hampel [4, p. 96] note that tungsten resists molten NaOH or KOH unless oxidants are present. The rapid attack reported by Fontana [5] thus apparently refers to melts in an oxidizing environment.
