Abstract

As in other areas of the orbit, the clinician must attempt to distinguish tumors from inflammations when dealing with lacrimal gland enlargements. This chapter is placed after Chapters 3 and 4 on orbital tumors because many of the processes that affect the orbit similarly affect the lacrimal gland. This chapter will concentrate on inflammations and tumors that are unique to the lacrimal gland area and do not occur elsewhere in the orbit or tumors and inflammations that have a unique expression in the lacrimal gland area.
